Hirofumi Hayashi is responsible for international sales and global business development as the Head of Investment Management Department at Sumitomo Mitsui Trust International.

Prior to joining our London office in 2018, he was in charge of global fiduciary business development and client services for Asian institutional investors, in our Tokyo head office. Hirofumi covered various institutional investors including public pensions, life insurers, financial institutions and asset managers in the Asian region. Hirofumi started his career at SuMi TRUST in 2008 as a Japanese equity trader.

Hirofumi holds a bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Waseda University and is a Chartered Member of the Security Analysts Association of Japan (C.M.A.)

Kei Ohashi is responsible for client services and global business development at Sumitomo Mitsui Trust International. Prior to his current role, he was the Associate Investment Director for product management and distribution at Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Asset Management in Tokyo. Before joining SuMi TRUST, he was the Product Specialist at Mitsui & Co Alternative Investments and managed funds of Hedge and Fixed Income funds.

Kei holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Yokohama City University.

Miho Ogushi is responsible for client services and global business development at Sumitomo Mitsui Trust International. Prior to her current role, she was engaged in product management and distribution at Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Asset Management in Tokyo. 

Miho holds a bachelor’s degree in Law from Keio University.

Emma Wilson provides client service to SuMi TRUST Clients outside Japan.

Prior to joining our London office in 2018, Emma spent three years in Japan as an Assistant Language Teacher in Fukushima Prefecture as part of the JET programme. Emma holds a bachelors degree in Linguistics with Japanese Language from Newcastle University.

Hayleigh Joseph provides client service to SuMi TRUST Clients outside Japan.

Prior to joining our London office in 2021, Hayleigh spent a year in Japan as an exchange student at Fukuoka Women’s University. Upon graduation she worked as a Japanese-speaking customer service advisor in the UK. Hayleigh holds a bachelors degree in German and Japanese from the University of Manchester.

Bertie provides client service to SuMi TRUST Clients outside Japan.

Prior to joining our London office in 2023, Bertie worked in the Invest Japan Division at JETRO (Japan External Trade Organisation) in London as an investment promotion officer. He also spent a year as an exchange student at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. Bertie holds a BA in Japanese from SOAS, University of London and an MSc in Japanese Studies from the University of Oxford.

Shigeo Mito is responsible for product management services on a global scale at Sumitomo Mitsui Trust International.

Prior to joining the team in 2020, he, as an equity investment specialist, has been closely collaborating with the team in client services and business development in Europe. Shigeo started his career at SuMi TRUST in proprietary trading in 2000 and managed Japanese equity portfolios from 2008 to 2017. Shigeo served as the Head of Investment Management Department from 2022 to 2023 before taking on the role of Product Specialist in 2024.

Shigeo holds an MBA from Duke University and a BA in business and commerce from Keio University. He is a CFA charter holder and is a Chartered Member of the Security Analysts Association of Japan.
